There is sharp reaction to the resolution of the executive committee of the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC). seeking excommunication by Narain Singh Chaura From within the community, the Dal Khalsa condemned the move, claiming it would set a bad precedent and could deepen the divide between moderate and hardliner Sikhs.
It is pertinent to mention that the SGPC executive led by President Harjinder Singh Dhami had handed over the resolution to Akal Takht Jathedar Giani Raghbir Singh to excommunicate Chaura, a former militant, who had attempted to assassinate the leader of Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD), Sukhbir Singh.
